Life’s Amazing Secrets – Gaur Gopal Das

Life’s amazing secrets is a self help book written by Gaur Gopal Das who is a monk and lives in India. He is amongst the most influential monks in India. He is actively present on many social platforms too in order to teach people life learnings.

After reading many self help, I have noticed that all talk about some common things which we should take into consideration and which are amazingly life changing. All these people have taken this road to be a better person everyday. They said it is important to being loving and kind to yourself and to others, the importance of spiritual practice like meditation in our life, be grateful for everything in your life, know exactly what you want from life, to have purpose in your life, and use your purpose to help others in way of seva (service), give to those who can not give you back, which will satisfy your soul.

This book gives you insight about how to balance the four crucial areas of our life.

  1. Our Personal Life
  2. Our Relationships
  3. Our Work Life
  4. Our Social Contribution

The personal growth can be possible through gratitude and consistent spiritual practice like meditation. Meditation plays an important role in every aspects of our life. Meditation can completely transform our character, develop the best of qualities within us and allows us to experience self realization. Meditation needs and it also develops patience as it doesn’t give result overnight. While Gratitude helps to make you a positive person and it is said that if you grateful for everything in life, you can able to see new opportunities and can also transform your fear, difficulties into opportunities to make better life. To detach from situations which are outside of our control and make peace with it is also important for peaceful mind.

Our relationships are the crucial and important part of our life. What a good relationship requires? it requires love and respect from both the ends. This book teaches us not to judge people who are important part of our life. To keep the relationships alive we should be attentive, being sensitive to another person and treat them better than you would like to be treated. We should focus on good things about people we love, and deal with the bad with not brutally but with kindness. Words play important role in relationships so choose your words carefully while giving feedback. Forgiveness is most important quality for relationships to work. it can be hard sometimes to forgive but in order to practice forgiveness, we have to learn to separate the incident from person.

How should be your work life look like? one should enjoy the work and should be passionate about your work so one can keep ascending in his/her career graph. there is only one competition and this is only with yourself, trying to be better everyday. Spiritual practice helps to find your purpose, helps in self discovery and finding your true potential. Spiritual practice shape your character which helps in your work life significantly.

The social contribution is very important part in our life which signify the humanity. Painful situations are easier to deal with when you have friends by your side to support you. The journey of service starts with being slightly selfish in order to reach the stage where we can afford to be completely selfless without causing damage to our own well being. Selflessness starts at home; with the ones we love the most. Be there for them to help them physically or emotionally. And then reaches to our extended family, society, nation and around the world. Living for ourselves has the potential to satisfy the mind and senses, but not the deep core of our heart.

This book covers all the crucial aspects of life and gives you insight on how to balance all these four areas of life simultaneously. It gives importance to the spiritual practices, meditation to deal with outside of the world.
